I have now received further advice from Mr Rajimwale, consultant paediatric surgeon at Leicester Royal Infirmary. He suggests that Katie does not need any surgical intervention at this stage. He has recommended that the ultrasound scan be repeated in six months' time. Children with kidney problems remain at high risk of increased blood pressure and hence her blood pressure should be monitored at least once a year. I will send a request for the ultrasound scan for early next year.
