Katie saw her paediatrician last week and we got a letter outlining her current health status. At the moment she needs to have an ultrasound scan every 6 months and see Dr Ali every 6 months. But, as she is doing so well at the moment, when she turns 5 she will only need to have a scan and appointment with the Dr once a year! This is for the main purpose of making sure her healthy right kidney remains healthy! She had her height, weight and blood pressure measured and all is good. She is on the 50th centile for her weight, 25th centile for her height and her blood pressure is great too. (Still find it odd to see a child having their blood ressure monitored!) Her left kidney, or what there is, is still covered with cysts and the biggest one is just shy of 1cm. Her right kidney is 'undergoing compensatory hypertrophy' But the most important thing is that Katie is growing well and is hitting all her developmental targets and is growing in confidence and is becoming a wonderful little girl who has her opinions aboout what she wants. For example she wants to be a ballerina princess and thinks I should run the marathon dressed as a Disney Princess like Cinderella. Think I may need to look on ebay for an outfit! EDIT: I looked on ebay and you can get a Cinderella outfit for an adult!! |
